SHIPPING AND DUTIES
Pick-up and shipping costs will be calculated and added to the final invoice. Final invoices will be emailed to purchasers within 12 hours of the auction ending.
Winning lots may be picked up at the auction event once payment has been received and approved. Alternatively, customers may arrange to pick up their auction purchases from Colonial Acres in Kitchener for up to 14 days following the conclusion of the auction.
Please call or email ahead to arrange in-store pick-up, including if you selected Pick-Up when registering for the auction. You will receive an email notification within approximately 2–3 business days once your order is ready. Please do not come in to collect your order until you have received this notification.
All shipments will include tracking and signature confirmation where available.
For shipments outside Canada, any applicable duties, taxes, customs charges, and delivery fees are the sole responsibility of the purchaser.
Separate Orders
We do not combine Colonial Acres website orders with auction orders for shipping. We also do not hold or combine auction orders from different auctions.
This policy allows us to maintain efficient shipping and processing times and helps prevent delays in getting orders out to customers.
TYPICAL SHIPPING TIMELINES
Once payment has been received and any applicable payment holds have cleared, orders are generally processed for shipment within 7–10 business days. Exact delivery times may vary depending on the destination, shipping service, carrier delays, and other circumstances outside of Colonial Acres' control.
Canada: Typically 7–10 business days from receipt of payment.
USA: Delivery times vary depending on the shipping service and destination. Tracking information will be provided once the parcel has been shipped.
International: When international shipping is available, delivery times can vary considerably by destination and service. Surface shipping may take 4–10 weeks, with some destinations taking longer. Please allow up to 12 weeks for surface shipments to Australia or New Zealand. Express shipping may be available for an additional fee; please contact us for options.
US Shipping:
US shipping has resumed. Standard US parcels are limited to a maximum value of $3,000 CAD. Parcels exceeding this value may require special handling or alternative shipping arrangements. We will contact you if additional information or fees are required.
International Shipping – Outside Canada and the USA:
Effective August 2026, Colonial Acres has temporarily paused shipping to destinations outside of Canada and the United States due to changes affecting Canada Post international service.
International shipping will resume once we have established an appropriate shipping solution. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition.
When international shipping is available, delivery times can vary considerably by destination and service selected. International orders must be shipped with tracking, and shipping costs are calculated based on the weight and destination of the package. Higher-value parcels may require additional shipping

RETURNS
Returns are generally only accepted at the discretion of the Auctioneer in cases involving a listing error, material discrepancy, or misattribution.
No returns will be accepted for bulk lots or lots containing more than 6 individual items.
Approved returns must be received by Colonial Acres within 7 days of the purchaser receiving the winning lot(s). Returned items must be in the same condition and original packaging as when sold. Items that have been opened, altered, damaged, or otherwise changed may void return privileges.
Buyer’s premiums are non-refundable on voluntary cancellations or returns that are not the result of an error or material discrepancy on the part of the Auctioneer. Where a return is approved due to a material listing error or misattribution, the refund will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
Any dispute regarding a lot must be brought to the Auctioneer's attention within 28 days of the purchaser receiving the item. Failure to notify Colonial Acres within this period may result in the forfeiture of any right to return or dispute the item.
Floor Bids
All floor bids are considered final. Returns will not be accepted from floor bidders or their authorized agents except where required by applicable law or at the sole discretion of the Auctioneer.
EU 14-Day Right of Cancellation
Customers residing in the European Union may have the right to cancel their purchase within 14 days of placing their order, in accordance with applicable consumer protection legislation.
To exercise this right, please contact us in writing at auctions@colonialacres.com within the applicable cancellation period.
Orders destined for the European Union may be held during the applicable cancellation period where required. If an order has already been shipped, please contact auctions@colonialacres.com to arrange the return and refund process.
INCIDENTALS
In the event of an unexpected power failure, internet service interruption, extreme weather, or other circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the Auctioneer that prevent the auction from proceeding as planned, the Auctioneer reserves the right to pause, postpone, extend, or terminate the auction event as reasonably necessary.
The Auctioneer reserves the right to amend these Terms of Sale by verbal announcement during the auction event or by posting an updated notice on the auction website.
The Auctioneer will make reasonable efforts to ensure that all items are described and photographed accurately and to the best of our knowledge. However, Colonial Acres cannot be held responsible for inadvertent errors or omissions that may occur in the catalogue, online listings, photographs, or verbal statements.

The Auctioneer reserves the right to request a deposit of up to 25% prior to bidding on certain lots, at the sole discretion of the Auctioneer. Any deposit collected that cannot be applied toward winning bids will be refunded to the bidder within 48 hours of the conclusion of the auction. Colonial Acres cannot be held responsible for refunds delayed by banking institutions.
If you require special payment arrangements, these must be presented to and approved by the Auctioneer prior to bidding.
Bidders may be restricted or banned from participating in future auctions if payment remains outstanding for more than 15 days following the conclusion of the auction. Customers with outstanding invoices will be unable to participate in future auctions until payment has been received.

OPENING BIDS & ESTIMATES:
The opening bid for all lots will commence at 10% above the second highest bid received or the consignor’s reserve (whichever is higher). All mail bids received prior to the live auction will be lowered whenever possible (so don’t be afraid to put down your maximum bid!!) All lots will be started at either the consignor’s reserve or 50% of the estimate.
Most lots will sell at 40% to 150% of the estimate. If you place a bid of about 60% of the estimate you should have a good chance of winning the lot, while a bid of 110% of the estimate you will likely win the lot. The estimates given are taken from Charlton catalogues, Canadian Coin News, eBay sales, Canadian Coin News trends, Canadian Dealer Newsletter retail prices, Krause publications, ICCS Cornwell, NGC Census, and PCGS Census.
BIDDING ADVANCES
The Auctioneer reserves the right to determine appropriate bidding increments and may accept or decline a bid that does not meet the required advance.
If no bids are received at the opening bid, the Auctioneer may accept or decline floor bids, leave the lot unsold, or proceed to the next lot.
Any bids placed by a consignor or an agent representing a consignor on their own consigned property remain subject to the applicable Buyer's Premium and any commission arrangements agreed upon with the Auctioneer.

Colonial Acres Auctions acts as an agent between consignors and winning bidders. While reasonable care is taken to accurately represent lots, bidders are responsible for reviewing descriptions, photographs, estimates, and available viewing opportunities before bidding.
GRADING AND ESTIMATES
Colonial Acres Auctions will make reasonable efforts to accurately describe and represent all items based on the information and expertise available to us.
Grading is subjective and opinions may differ between individuals, dealers, and third-party grading services. Where third-party grading is referenced, Colonial Acres does not guarantee that another grading service would assign the same grade, nor that the item would receive the same grade if resubmitted to the same service.
Estimates are provided as a guide and are not a guarantee of market value or selling price.
Bidders are encouraged to carefully review photographs, descriptions, and available viewing opportunities before placing a bid.
Any material discrepancy or listing error should be brought to the Auctioneer's attention in accordance with the Returns section of these Terms and Conditions.
IDENTICAL BIDS
