In 1974 Henry Moore had the intention of giving the works in his atelier (maquettes, works on paper and sculptures) to the Tate Gallery. When that became public a lot of British artists protested because they were afraid that the Tate Gallery would become a Henry Moore Museum. Henry Moore was very upset by this protest and decided in 1974 to donate more than 400 works from his collection to the Art Gallery of Ontario in Canada.
