In 1868, the Dominion of Canada Rifle Association was established by an Act of Parliament, Chapter 99, assented on July 7, 1900, to promote and encourage marksmanship training throughout Canada. Its passage was prompted by the imminent departure of the British garrisons, who had all departed by 1871, as well as the Fenian raids against Canadian territory in 1866. The Association at that time brought together thirty-three independent rifle associations. The DCRA has continued to hold prize meetings every year since, except during the two World Wars. Attractive rainbow patina with hues of peach, indigo, & gold throughout
