Coin is .750 fine and contains 0.6028ozt pure. The Free City of Danzig was a unique political entity that existed between the two World Wars. Situated between Poland and Germany, Danzig was established in 1920 by the Treaty of Versailles as a semi-independent city-state with its own government and customs regime. Despite its autonomy, it remained economically tied to Poland. The Free City faced challenges such as tensions between its German and Polish populations and pressure from Nazi Germany. In 1939, amidst rising tensions, Nazi Germany annexed Danzig, marking the end of its brief period as a free city.
