David Gerry Partridge (1010-2006, Canadian) was born in Ohio and moved to Canada when he was sixteen. In 1950, he went to the Slade School of Fine Art (in UK) for a year and founded the St. Catharines Public Library Art Gallery after he returned to Canada. It was not until he settled in Ottawa in 1958 did he begin to work in his famous "naillies" style. One of his most famous works is the "Metropolis", which can be seen in the entrance of Toronto City Hall. It consists of nine panels and over 100,000 nails.
