Acrylic on paper. Featuring an abstract woman nude study, framed. Stamped " ATELIER KURT LAUBER MUNCHEN" and attributed to Kurt Lauber (German, 1893-1971) on verso. Backing of painting accompanied with a separate etching on verso, as shown in picture. Etching 1/10, inscribed in pencil, "Arnsberg 1/10, orig, Radiers", signature on the lower right margin. 6 x 6 in. (15 x 15 cm). Kurt Lauber was born in 1893 in Bremen. He started his studies at the Art Academy Karlsruhe in 1910 followed by studies in Berlin. In 1923 he became master student of the sculptor Hugo Lederer (1871-1940) (as Josef Thorak, Gustav Seitz and Emy Roeder were). The end of the 1920s Lauber spend some time in Italy, partly as guest of the German Academy Rome. Until 1945, he was more engaged in architectural sculpture. After fleeing Germany in 1944, he focused on painting. Later on he moved back to Munich and lived there as painter and sculptor. Lauber died in 1971 in Munich.
